The Shipping sector and the oil and gas sector have been a martyr of cyber campaigns. The Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM) has issued hints against cybercriminals.
The extend of these campaigns and the following incidents have been global, but companies in the United States of America, Europe, and the Middle East have been the principal targets.
The warning actors have displayed higher ability and capacities to conduct their operations. It has been reported attempts of digital activity with mischievous intent against few companies. The companies and organizations should be planned enough for repeated activity in the short to medium term, added NSM.
NSM National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Norwegian Maritime Authority, and the Norwegian Ship owners’ Association evaluated that all types of ships and ship owners’ land-based foundation can be exposed to cyber incidents within the maritime sector. Especially the ship owners that operate in MARSEC level two areas or higher must be aware of the situation.
NSM NCSC has aided ship owners and employees within the shipping sector to show raised vigilance.
